Hmm …

… Informal Inquiries: Bible reading in schools: then and now.

My own view is that the King James Bible should be required reading in schools, for the simple reason that it is one of the foundations of English literature. This of course should be a no-brainer for anyone serious about English.

  1. Frank, far too few responsible for K-12 curricula and pedagogy are serious about teaching English and literary foundations and the canon.

  2. Required?

NO! The legislature should be kept out of dictating what is to be taught in lit classes.

  3. Well, the pols should be kept out of just about anything. My point is that only a moron would leave the KJV out of anything purporting to be an English literature class.
