I enjoyed this. Steve Allen knew how to present his guests. We hear Kerouac speak, we hear his own written words. Something else came across for me: Jack was a loyal Catholic, a believer in God, and a social conservative. I'm not sure that many people understand that.
I do, Lincoln. He complained late in life that nobody understood that he meant On the Road as a celebration of America. Anyone who has driven across the country ought to understand that.
