These were, of course — the whites at least — terrible people, not at all ecologically sound. Don't you miss them?
Owen Wister, of course. But why was his eponymous hero from the trans-Potomac regions?
ReplyDeleteOwen Wister it is. As to why his hero was from Virginia, I have no idea. But Wister had traveled a good deal in the west, so maybe the character was based on someone he met there — who was from Virginia. Also, it works better than, say, the Pennsylvanian.
