… I mentioned the other day that I had been invited to a talk at the Ardmore Rotary Club about libertarianism. Some people have expressed interest in what I had to say. One thing I want to say now is what a gratifying experience it was for me. As long as this country continues to be inhabited by persons of the caliber I was privileged to meet the other day, we're in safe and capable hands.
Anyway, here is what I had to say: The Highest Political End - Google Docs.
Thank you for sharing this, Frank. It's written so simply and powerfully I could hear you speak as I read it. I am, of course, familiar with the points you make but you still make them in a novel fashion. Your depth of knowledge and clarity of ideas is so attractive. Ah, if only you were younger and closer home, I would have hit on you :)
ReplyDeleteFYI: A Libertarian House On The Prairie
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading your speech and have to ask the obvious questions: How can we "roll back government, not just at the federal level, but at all levels" when those who have the power to accomplish this are the ones who stand to lose the most if their power is diminished? Do you think we could actually vote in enough new leaders dedicated to reducing the size of government and simplifying our laws to eventually see results? Sounds impossible, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteWell, as I see it, the Tea Party, the MSM's hostility to it notwithstanding, does seem to favor such a rollback, and its tactic is evidently to try to take over the Republican Party. I'm a registered Libertarian myself, but I have not seen any evidence that the Libertarian Party has a clue as to how to win an election.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Vikram, thanks on all counts.
