Getting things right …

    Or not. Taking this simply as a literary device, it seems to me that protagonist of Some Came Running ends up being gunned down by a crazed ex-Marine. That would have been set in the years between 1945 and 1950, when the US had precious little to do with Indochina; and James Jones was hardly a pacifist.
