I really have no dog in this fight, since I'm even older than the boomers. I was 21 at the time of the Cuban missile crisis, but I don't remember especially alarmed over it. As I learned not to later when I went to work in the field of arms control, both sides were at pains to make sure no bombs went off. The problem — still unsolved — was nuclear proliferation. Unfortunately, the people in charge these day — a good many of whom, i suppose, re boomers — are far less serious than those in charge back then.
