Review: 'The Brothers' looks at Boston Marathon bombing's motivations - LA Times. (Hat tip, Rus Bowden.)
… Gessen argues convincingly that no situation stands alone. Rather than the story of two lone-wolf jihadists, determined to wage war on their adopted country, the marathon bombing becomes a saga of both the Tsarnaev family and contemporary U.S. culture, in which all too often terror provokes an unreasonable response.
The point of terrorism is to inspire terror. Exactly what would a "reasonable" response to that be? The younger Tsarnaev brother got a fair trial. He is still alive and in possession of all his limbs. Maybe they should put him in a cell with Aaron Hernandez.
