It reads more or less like "27 Reasons I'm Cool." In general, trying to puzzle out what anything means in an NY Times section called "Style" or "Styles" is unrewarding. I guess the pieces keep the ads from bumping into one another.
Probably, coolest guy I ever met was Elmore Leonard. Not because he tried to be. Because trying to be cool isn't cool. You're either cool or not. He just was cool. Nobody who is really cool ever follows advice on how to be cool. It wouldn't interest them.
