What do you think?

 Are these the 10 best Shakespeare screen adaptations? | Stage | The Guardian. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)



Well, I haven't seen the film of Peter Brook's production of Lear, but I did see the stage version and that would certainly be my choice. Polanski's Macbeth was awful. I think Charlton Heston was a better Mark Antony in the 1970 film of Julius Caesar than Brando was in the 1953 version. But the latter is by far the better picture.  But you can judge for yourself:

    I am opposed to film versions and insist upon stage versions. My one exception was the video version of Richard Burton's stage version in the 60s. Yeah, I'm a stick in the mud, old fashioned theater fanatic.
