Hmm …

Well, since climatic epochs are named in terms of geology, why not stick with what the geologists call it — the Holocene? That's nice and neutral, devoid of editorializing. Moreover, homo sapiens seems to have been around for about 200,000 years. The Holocene is a mere 11,700 years old.
