Good question …

 Is Neruda still worth reading today? – TheTLS. (Hat tip, Rus Bowden.)

I first became acquainted with Neruda when Samuel Barber's The Lovers, a setting of some of his poems, was premiered by the Philadelphia Orchestra. I just didn't like the poems. Later I learned what a dubious character he had been and pretty much lost interest in him. But that's just me.
