CNN)The Philadelphia Eagles' White House visit has been canceled due to the controversy over standing for the national anthem at NFL games, President Donald Trump announced Monday.
"The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow," Trump said in a statement. "They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.
More Trump BS. The real reason for the cancellation: only 10 players planned to attend. The great majority of those who intended to skip the visit had never participated in an anthem protest. They just don’t respect the guy.
ReplyDeleteThe players who were not going to go, were not going to go anyway. But now the players who would have gone to the White House won't be going. He must be solidifying his base, huh?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking for their respective NBA basketball teams, Lebron James and Steph Curry say that, whoever wins, neither the Cleveland Browns nor the Golden State Warriors want to visit the White House occupant: LeBron James: Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers wouldn't accept White House invite.
ReplyDeleteIn these times, what used to be an honor, is not. Sad.
