Understanding the sunlight part, Mary & I have been trying to get out while the sun is shining. There's the vitamin D factor, which is also showing it may inhibit the virus. So personally speaking, it can make us get the virus later than sooner -- the problem being, that inhibition may just slow the first wave (if there's to be more than one) to near-herd immunity. We still do not know if anyone can catch covid-19 a second time, risking death and seriously illness once again. Sunlight can be one conjectural explanation of why the southern states and Australia have not peaked or plateaued as quickly as New York and Massachusetts. Another explanation has to do with viral mutations, the east coast one being the deadliest.
Another has to do with lack of safety precautions around a deadly virus. And this bumps into the lock-down measures.
I just listened to a talking head spout off about why should Des Moine shut down, just because New York is having trouble with a deadly pandemic. New York wouldn't shut down, he said, if it were Des Moine with the virus. He was serious.
Some writer offered that it's like having a peeing section in a pool where people splash around. No matter where you pee, sooner or later, both the deep part and the shallow part will be contaminated with pee -- even though it takes longer to contaminate the deep section.
Cuomo should not be surprised that people who have been staying home, are getting the virus. Drilling down into these studies, we find that it was originally the jet setters who contracted the virus and became world super spreaders. Yes, the rich were attacked before the poor this time.
Once people would lock down, the population catching the virus were the poorer people who did not have as spacious homes, who could not separate, their workers going out, and visitors coming in. If you're going to catch the virus, you're going to have to catch it from someone -- or something intermediary like a package.
My sister and her husband live next door, in this duplex. She watches her grandchildren while her daughter and son-in-law go out to work. Mary & I are able to stay clear of this activity, except when we go out back or onto the front porch. So, different from the wealthier, we are at some risk. But if this were one open house for all of us, especially if it were yet smaller, we would be at such a greater risk of contamination.
In fact, my brother-in-law is not even trying to be careful any more, or maybe he just forgets. He must know that he is close to being dead in the water. The problem then becomes how careless he is with Mary & I. Yesterday, as we spoke, he wanted to shake hands. He also is too casual with how close he gets. It's like the virus has naturally numbed him in order to make him a super spreader.
