Pew’s study found that those who use print, radio, or a news website have a “high” to “middle” knowledge of political news. But 57% who get their information on social websites have “low political knowledge.”
Presumably because of the medium itself -- things are reduced to meme...or, heavy use of social media so dampens our attention span that reading a considered article in The Economist, say, or TAC, is too difficult to aspire to.
