Back in the 1980s, I decided that people had forgotten how to make movies, though they still knew how to make music videos and commercials. Top Gun was a fair exhibit for this argument.
Well, the movie business isn’t the same thing as the movies (though there’s bound to be some overlap). The business has always rattled back and forth between at-death’s-door and the latest Miraculous Recovery.
For myself, I have no trouble finding good, and even great, recent movies. The hard part is fending off the aggressive stinkers that swarm in their hundreds and thousands.
