Young LGBT Catholics need to know they belong in the church. I’m creating a curriculum to tell them that.
I think it should be obvious by now that some people are naturally attracted to persons who are the same sex as they are. I don’t see why that should exclude them from practicing the faith. Of course, they would have to practice it just as we straight people must — with fidelity. So I think blessing a gay marriage should be done. But the gay couple must be faithful to each other. Will they sometimes fail? Well, straight people are also sometimes unfaithful. That’s why the confessional is there. We are all sinners and must from time to time beg Our Lord’s forgiveness. The important thing is to live our faith.
When I was a student at Rivier College (now U), the tidbit of knowledge was that two men would be less faithful than a man and a women, who would be less faithful to each other than two women. That was 40 or so years ago. Don't know what the current numbers are.
