Convincing villainy …

I think Professor Weston in C. S. Lewis's space trilogy is quite convincingly bad. And what happens at the end of Charles Williams's All Hallows Eve is as scary as anything I've ever read.

  1. I met someone once whom I had concluded was knowingly evil, someone I think took pleasure in doing evil. I told him as much. He smiled and walked away. At least one person died because of him, a young man in his thrall. But it not for that that he later ended up in prison.
