Why am I not surprised ....

... that "the Black Book of Saddam Hussein has been received with what [editor Chris] Kutschera describes as a "chill" by the French commentariat, has been ignored by the reviewers in the leading French newspapers"? Baathed in Blood

  1. Powerful piece! There has been a one-way condemnation of the American foreign policy in Iraq, but analysts forget that it arises from the unspoken notion that people expect better from America, and so, any shortcoming on US's part tends to invite greater rebuke than for those who are considered habitual torturers. This is to America's credit, I would say, which is why, an Abu Ghraib invokes worlwide condemnation, not for Saddam's atrocities, but for the American soldiers'.
