Hmm, let's get this straight. Time-Warner-CNN etc etc, a media conglomerate of tremendous size, does a story highlighting boutique financier John Barr, described in the piece as an "unembarrassed populist." What's wrong with this picture? Btw, the poets they ask for are out there. One won't find them at genteel writers conferences in placid settings. You know, the ULA did two exciting readings in Feb and April in this town-- I put what resources I had into them, all I had. The Inky's editors were invited. What's the parable in Luke about the invited guests who never came? Ever read it, my man? So be it. Our next readings will be on streetcorners-- whether here or maybe in Detroit, birthplace of literary rebellion. One thing we have that I know the upscale conformists don't is talent, voices, originality, and energy. Most important, we carry with us new ideas-- ideas for literary change. Real change not to be discovered by experts on Wall Street. Have a nice day.
