Maybe this helps explain ...

  2. I'm part of the public and I don't see the media as wanting Obama to win or portraying the war war in Iraq as worse than it is.

I see the media as a bunch of millionaire broadcasters and multi-millionaire conglomerate owners pouring right-wing propaganda, (pro-war, pro-torture, pro-no-bid contracts, pro-big business, anti-Bill of Rights), into the national dialog.

All the while shouting about a liberal media bias. Looks like Glenn Reynolds and Rasmussen are right there helping out, too.

But that's just me. And my brothers, my cousins, most of my in-laws, and .. well, most everyone I know, actually. Of course none of them writes for a conservative leaning propaganda organ. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

  3. Well, that's interesting, Blue - seriously. I worked for a major metropolitan daily for nearly 30 years and just about all of my colleagues were liberal democrats - perfectly nice people, I might add. I was thought to be conservative, but Bryan's characterization of me as Old Tory sounds more apt. My complaint about the media is how parochial their outlook is. Most people in the media have only worked ... in the media. A year on a construction crew could do wonders for them. They also worship degrees and thing like that. Fortunately, Blue, though we may disagree on politics, we agree on the important things, like poetry.
And therein lies the most important thing: that we remain cordial in our disagreements.
