Where are today's literary nomads? They haven't disappeared. They sure seem to be happening on the blogosphere, posting reports and commentaries from the road on a regular basis.
This strikes me as another of those premature laments for the end of something that hasn't really ended.
P.S. I guess this commentator has never read Pico Iyer, Peter Matthiessen, William Least Heat Moon, Paul Theroux, Bruce Chatwin, and several others I could name simply by walking over to the nomadics section of my bookshelves. I find that odd and a bit narrow.
