Leave it to the Times to have a liberal Catholic tell us what it means to be a Catholic. Talk about an echo chamber. Interesting that one of Gutting's key points has to do with "sources of the self." Faith isn't about cultivating the self. It's about overcoming the self. A self-determined faith is no faith at all.
