On first reading, then, Trudeau is presenting us with a clear and executable moral theory:
1. Identify the bearer of privilege. 2. Hold the privilege-bearer responsible.
But here’s the trouble: There are many dogs in any fight, and the task of identifying which one is the underdog is not so easy.
Free speech is precisely the right to say what might offend someone. And that someone is free to take offense. He is not free, however, to kill over that offense. Of course, Trudeau has always confined himself to offending those iit is fashionable to offend.
