FYI …

Yo, everyone!

On Saturday the 18th of July, Musehouse is sponsoring its second annual Independent Press Night, with six authors presenting their works from six different Philly-area publishers. Last year's event was a big success even though I was one of the readers. This year, thankfully, I won't have to do anything but brief introductions, leaving the stage to a very distinguished lineup:

  • Vincent D. Feldman, City Abandoned: Charting the Loss of Civic Institutions in Philadelphia / photography / Paul Dry Books
  • Leonard Gontarek / poems / The American Poetry Review
  • Anne Kaier, Home with Henry / memoir / PS Books
  • Sarah Kowalski, “Draining the Oceans,” from South Philly Fiction / short fiction / Don Ron Books
  • Vikram Paralkar, The Afflictions / novel / Lanternfish Press
  • Nathaniel Popkin, Lion and Leopard / novel / The Head and the Hand Press
The event starts at 7:00 at the new venue for Musehouse readings: Chestnut Hill Gallery, 8117 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia 19118, (215) 248-2549. It's just a block south of the Chestnut Grill & Sidewalk Cafe (a great place for dinner, by the way).

For more info about the readers, check the entries on our public Facebook page:

Also, for anyone inspired to write about the event, I have a press release available.

As always, the reading is free and open to the public, and there will be refreshments in the back room. Hope to see you there.
