Over the last two weeks, Princeton and Harvard Universities also have agreed to change the titles; Yale University students and faculty are debating whether to follow suit. Supporters of the change argue that master connotes a legacy of slavery.
Well, I certainly hope that none of these oh-so-enlightened protesters will ever stoop to accept a master's degree. I also hope they never attend an exhibition of Old Masters. Heaven forfend that they encounter a masterpiece. And I trust nothing they do or say will ever be deemed masterful.
