Well, I've read Ulysses twice, both times because I had to. The first time for class. The second time because I was on assignment covering the centenary of Bloomsday. I think it's a fairly easy read once you get to Chapter Four, when you meet Mr. Bloom. But that may just be me.

I read it in high school. I didn't have to pick Joyce as the author to read that quarter, but as I recall my friends had picked the other authors I had in mind by the time it was my choice. I read it again when the centenary of Bloomsday was coming up. It proved to be a very different book when read in my upper 40s.
