That's from July 4. Since then, another 20,000 have been counted dead from the virus. We are at a count of 142,436 and climbing. Uncontrolled spread has now shifted to the southern states, where cases are climbing rapidly, which means the deadths will follow.
No matter where we go, there are intelligent people without a death wish who are wearing masks, keeping distance, and washing hands. This keeps the spread down, all studies show. Where there are stupid people or people with death wishes, who do not wear masks, do not keep distance, and do not wash hands, the virus spreads and the death wish they were playing with results.
The other results, over and above a serious bout of illness lasting sometimes for months, is that we have people whose organs did not get enough oxygen, who will die later or be forever disabled.
That entire do-nothing philosophy simply does not work. Of course. We are not helpless, just lacking in leadership.
