What if trees are the angels?
Who else could connect
This trashed-out earth with sky?
Note the many fallen leaves
All lit up by candles
Of the spirit-fireflies.
Is it then prayers
When a chickadee vibrates
From every little branch?
A tree is like a rocket
Rendered with Monet colors
And vertical strokes
Heavenward to launch.
