Malcolm was recently at a symposium given in honour of the 90th birthday of Sir Andrew Huxley - who won the Nobel prize (with Alan Hodgkin) for working out nerve conduction, then switched to muscle and worked out how force is generated. He has slowed down a bit these days, but he still takes an interest in how the field is going, and has inspired many a young scientist.
