Heh, terrific interview. Beginning to like this dame more and more. In a kinda passive-aggressive way, Weiner eloquently responds to Jane Smiley's recent hatchet-jab. Worth the price of admittance; also, makes me wonder why "they" don't call the work of Bellow, Hemingway, Mailer, Roth, Ford (either will do), Miller, et.ilk, DickLit or, alternatively, in case someone beats moi to it, PrickLit — ya gits my drift, Continental?
I love these inspired neologisms, but must suggest a distinction between PrickLit and DickLit, reserving the latter designation for Messrs. Chandler, Hammett, Spillane, Cain, Leonard, et.al. After all, where would cocky hardboiled fiction be without its de rigueur dicks? Besides, "chicks" and "pricks" just naturally hang together.
