Life is what happens ...

... when you leave campus: THE GROVES OF ACADEME.

The editor of a distinguished told me once how dismayed he had become over the fiction being submitted to him: It all seemed to be based, not on life, but on other stories.

What editor's that? I've got something I'd love to submit.

All the editors at commerical mags say that fiction isn't profitable, and so I'm stuck in the ghetto of academic journals. So I need to have a side job to live. And I haven't been getting too many home runs in the journals, only lots of form letter rejections. And from reading these journals, I feel like I don't fit in: I have no MFA and I don't write the obscene and/or frivolous kind of story that seems to be the norm.

  2. I can't give that information out in public, I'm afraid.
