Ohhh, nooo ...

... Is ‘Bringing Down the House’ a Fraud? (Hat tip, Roger Miller.)

Mezrich defends himself vigorously (if gnomically), saying: “The idea that the story is true is more important than being able to prove that it’s true.”

What I think this means is that the facts of the matter were insufficiently exciting to make for a best-selling book, so I gussied them up a bit by inventing things out of whole cloth. In short, yes, the book is a fraud.
