One of them meant a lot to me ...

... Library Factoid: Andrew Carnegie.

The Holmesburg Library in Northeast Philadelphia, where I spent many a pleasant afternoon when I was kid, was built by Carnegie.

  1. My home town had a majestic little Carnegie library, now gone. In my current location, the two local Carnegie libraries (almost identical to the one I grew up with) have morphed into a church office building and part of an art museum. Another in a nearby town is still up and running. They really are part of the landscape in this part of the country - a county seat had a courthouse and a Carnegie Library.... Perhaps a better legacy than acquiring naming rights to a sports stadium.
