Tyranny at work ...

... Hugo Nixes Homer - Why?

Because Homer is smarter than Hugo?

Here's some more on a fellow one of my commenters feels displays "hallmarls of decency," from Der Spiegel:

Is Hugo Chavez Friends with FARC?

Maybe the US can fund another coup on behalf of the massively rich like they did a few years ago, & usher in an elite run banana republic like all good little states with long names should be. I'm sure the decisions were precisely from Chavez of course.

There is also of course the slim possibility regarding this irrelevant tibit of "news" that the change in programming isn't a decision made by Hugo Chavez. Such a supposition would be the intellectual act of one on at best a par with Homer, methinks. Taking the notion of a hands-on President a bit far. What do you think Venezuala is, a little town with Chavez the town mayor.
Though of course that's about as deep an understanding of Central & South America that the servile bourgeois minions are interested in.

  4. Well, all you Hugo lovers should try hitting the link and taking it up with Nige himself. Me, I'm a Homer fan - both Simpson and poet.

Recognising someone bearing the hallmarks of decency- perhaps a rarity in heads of state- doesn't mean one is necessarily a Hugo lover. The mentioned coup was sabotaged by a massive reaction by the people of Venezuala marching on the US paid rebels' quarters where presumably CHavez would have been murdered. When the insulted & the injured make such a stand against the loveless plutocrats, I think there's every chance the man is deserving of respect.

I personally think The Simpsons used to be a fine show, but has exhausted itself many years ago. Flogging a very dead horse.

  6. Recognizing decency in Hugo Chavez certainly doesn't necessarily mean being a citizen of Venezuela. Many of those citizens find him and his policies deplorable. But the post wasn't meant to ignite a geopolitical discussion, actually.
