Outliers, due out [this] week, looks at everyone from hockey players to lawyers and software billionaires to make the case that success has less to do with merit or psychological makeup than with arbitrary factors such as when and where you were born and what your parents did for a living.
Malcolm Gladwell's take on the bottom line's closer to the truth than most; at least, he acknowledges talent, especially in Canada, doesn't enter the equation (and, given the tin-plot greederati hogging the public purses, especially in literature, it never will).
This looks very interesting. I like Gladwell -- "Blink" and "The Tipping Point" both fascinating books. This guy is a good thinker who can also write. Nice, and far too rare, combination.
