That's fascinating Frank - I wonder if that slowing down / expansion is part of the reason looking round a gallery is so uniquely tiring (or is that just me?)
I hadn't thought of that, Nige, but I think you're on to something. It is certainly true that if you are really engaged in looking at a collection of good art, you feel peculiarly fatigued. It's a little like after you take a long hike, a kind of delicious weariness.
