Some exciting music...

... I grew up with Ormandy. I consider him vastly underrated. For 40 years, he got the orchestra to play as he wanted them to. How well has the orchestra done without him since? He also helped introduce me to classical music. I owe him a lot, and I remain a loyal fan.

  1. Hear, hear!

I grew up with the Philly coming to Ann Arbor every year for a week of concerts called the May Festival. My parents always bought season tickets. So I saw Ormandy and the Phil. many many times as a young man. I even got to be acquainted with Michael Bookspan, one of the principal percussionists with the Orchestra, a bit later.

    Thanks for the memories.

  2. I spent a very pleasant evening sometime in the '70s talking with Michael Bookspan at a party in a house on River Road, near Gladwyne. Nice man.
