Absolutely! The piece so infuriated me that I added a tart comment. Some of what Genoways says is undoubtedly true - the need for more ambitious work, by all means the need to get out from under the academic umbrella - but I get the feeling that his reading is pretty limited. Does he even realise what's happening in SF or YA lit, for example?
I certainly hope some university presidents don't take it into their heads to Save American Literature!
