There are, however, other choices besides militant atheism, Biblical literalism, and the approach suggested here.

  1. I agree. One of those, which seems to get overlooked sometimes, is viewing scripture as poetry, as metaphor. That's sort of mentioned sometimes, but often only as an aside.

    Yet another way is the mystic's path, the whole creation-centered spirituality "green" thread that most of the Christian mystics have embodied, and often been condemned for, by the church authorities.
