I traveled to Germany, Italy and Spain during those years.I recall the fear the Europeans felt due to the terroristic acts of the RAF, the IRA and the other terrorist groups. It was indeed a violent time. After the RAF hit an American military base, we were on alert to guard against future attacks. Long before 9/11, we in the military knew it would only be a matter of time before terrorism would strike American shores.I recently saw "The Baader Meinhof Complex" on cable TV and I thought it was one of the best films about terrorism.
