I found this thoughtful. It's something I've noticed for years. It doesn't bother me if journalists are or are not themselves religious, practicing or otherwise—as long as it doesn't create a bizarre bias, who cares? What I find more disturbing is the idea that objectivity equates only with rationality, as though only the intellect was capable of reasoned assessment.
I find the commentors following the article claiming an alternate history for the rise of partisan journalism to be hilarious. But then, resistance to such (partisan) attempts to rewrite history is partly what Mr. Douthat was talking about. LOL
