When I went to Di Bruno'sthis morning, they were playing this on the store's loudspeakers. It struck me that this is a wonderful version of the song. And the video is sweet (or am I just getting old?).
Usually Frank Sinatra and the other saloon singers from his era, great as they were, did a poor job of covering songs from the 1960s - but ole Dino covered this Mamas & Pappa's song very well.
Actually, the song dates back to 1931, and the first recording was by none other than Ozzie Nelson, who did the vocals. Ella did it, too, and so did Nat Cole.
