The philosophical idea that consciousness is involved at some mysterious (that is, observed but not understood) level with determining outcomes in the material world — that is, that there is no bright, clean barrier between objectivity and subjectivity.

I am increasingly inclined to think that searching for a material explanation of consciousness gets the problem backward. We should be trying to figure out instead how consciousness explains matter.
