... some people seem to think that if science doesn't say something happened, what it's really saying is that that thing didn't happen. So if science doesn't say that God is guiding the process of evolution, then science is really saying that God is not guiding the process. But that's ridiculous. Science doesn't say anything about it one way or the other.
Plantinga is really well respected: he is generally thought to have brought theism respectably back into philosophy. His recent book Where the Conflict Really Lies: Science, Religion, and Naturalism
ReplyDeletenotes the distinction between Science and Naturalism -- and the latter suffers. (He writes well too and for 9.99 on a Kindle/iPad the book is worth it!) While he does not illustrate any "deep conflict" (his words) between religion and science, he does between science and naturalism (a/k/a scientism or causal determimism or reductionism).
Maybe post modern relativism will get crushed after all...yay!
