Thought for the day ...

I shall not die of a cold. I shall die of having lived.
- Willa Cather, born on this date in 1873

What better way is there to die? She is the great American novelist.

  1. Frank could you suggest your favourite books of hers to start reading her? Thanks!

  2. One of my role models in life. I too want to die from having lived. That's a good goal.

"Death Comes for the Archbishop" would be my recommendation, or the short stories. As a place to start. I partly love "Death Comes" because of its Southwestern setting, which she evokes wonderfully, and partly for the sheer beauty of the writing.
