...The Artist
Sure the movie is cute, but it pays a genuine tribute to a time in Hollywood that is hardly remembered today. Also, by using the trope of voicelessness in a movie but mixing it with sound at crucial junctures -- and then using that to make a statement on the era was more than just cute. Yes, the dog was excellent but so were the leads. And the love story was heartfelt.
I'm with you on this, Vikram. I loved the film. It has in abundance a quality that is actually quite rare: genuine charm. As for Uggie, he deserved an Oscar.
ReplyDeleteYes, genuine charm, I would second that Frank. And I loved how they displayed only those dialogues that took the story forward. That gave the film real panache!
