Typical reductionist nonsense. Talked recently with a young writer named Adam Wilson on Bat Segundo. The protagonist of his novel, FLATSCREEN, is a complete loser, yet he still got lucky (or had pathetic sex) every 100 pages. The demagogues who wish to make knee-jerk summations about the present literary scene's apparent inadequacies often aren't looking for the tawdry qualifier they so easily seek. Maybe the prudishness exists in the reflection in the mirror.
