Depends on what you mean …

… by intuition: Debunking the Myth of Intuition | Farnam Street. (Hat tip, Dave Lull.)


For Aristotle  intuition is the ability to know first principles. I also think he used it to mean a priori knowledge, immediate understanding not dependent on reasoning, such as the knowledge that one exists. In other words, he didn't think of it as a kind of hunch.
