… Who Killed the Liberal Arts? And why we should care?


When I went to St. Joseph's College (as it then was) it was still an old-fashioned Jesuit institution grounded in Aquaviva's Ratio studiorum. What it offered was, basically, a classical education. My experience has confirmed what Albert Jay Nock said of such: that it prepares you for just about anything life presents you with, because it forms your mind and character. It also clues you in on how to enjoy life.
