I've only read one of these, Tan Twan Eng's  The Garden of Evening Mists. I reviewed it quite favorably, and I would like to see it win. But Vikram reviewed Jeet Thayil's novel, and I believe he liked it every bit as much as I did Evening Mists. We shall see on Tuesday.
